My name is Rebecca-Louise Toughill and I am an artist, jewellery designer and mixed media textile creative based just on the outskirts of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.
My training includes Art, Graphic Design, Textile Design and Jewellery making. I also try my hand at many crafts, such as paper making, flower pressing, embroidery and knitting.
My work reflects what is in my heart. My observational two-dimensional work communicates my feelings and thoughts about the places I go and the people that touch my life. The materials I use are very varied, ranging from paper to mother of pearl, but in each discipline a selection is made on quality and purpose.
My jewellery work is a side step to a more practical me. I love accessories, (shoes, handbags, charms) and making unique pieces for others to enjoy could not be more pleasurable. Again the focus is on quality, colour, durability and sentiment.
At present the jewellery work is my main focus for SandyGecko. I work from my studio, but will be aquiring premises in the future which is very exciting. Commissions are very popular, and this allows me to enjoy more regimented work as well as working in three dimensional stitch, paint and beading.
